The STS Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Forum 2024 was successfully held on 22nd May in Muscat, Oman. The event brought together senior management, operations leadership, and HSE executives from across the GCC, reflecting a strong, region-wide commitment to advancing HSE standards.
The primary objective of the forum was to reaffirm STS’s unwavering commitment to HSE excellence by clearly communicating management expectations and aligning all stakeholders around shared goals. It also served as a collaborative platform to address current challenges in managing HSE across varied geographies and client portfolios, and to identify actionable strategies for continuous improvement.
The event opened with a keynote address by the Group Managing Director and the CEO, who emphasized the critical role of leadership in embedding HSE as a core organizational value. This was followed by a comprehensive presentation from the General Manager – HSE, who reviewed STS’s 2024 HSE performance, highlighting key achievements, emerging trends, and opportunities for enhancement.
Eminent panelists from STS shared their frontline experiences, offering practical insights into overcoming challenges and driving HSE excellence across complex operational environments.
A key highlight was a presentation by Mr Khalid Hashmi, Head of HSE – PDO Project Delivery, who spoke on the importance of proactive intervention in incident prevention and the development of a strong safety culture.
In recognition of outstanding efforts, Road Safety Performance Awards were presented to teams and individuals, celebrating the remarkable milestone of 125 million safe kilometers achieved.
The forum concluded with an open-floor discussion, encouraging transparent dialogue around operational challenges and reinforcing a culture of collective accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
The forum served as a strong reaffirmation of STS’s commitment to fostering a unified and resilient HSE culture across all its regions of operation, ensuring that safety remains a shared responsibility at every level of the organization.
