Sebacic Oman Refinery, a joint venture between investors from the Sultanate of Oman and India, has exported its containerized cargo from Port of Duqm for the first time.

Sebacic Oman started operating its first phase in 2018 and is one of the first industrial facilities to start up production in Duqm. Its factory produces sebacic acid and glycerine, which are used to manufacture high-end polymers, nylons, high-performance engine oils, coolants and products that go into sun protection cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

The containerized cargo carrying glycerine was exported for the first time to the Indian port of Nhavasheva via the container terminal of the Port of Duqm. Being an Export oriented unit (EOU) based within the Special economic zone in Duqm #SEZAD and located less than 20kms away from the port, it underpins the increasing cost and logistics advantage that Port of Duqm is offering to its clients.

As such, Port of Duqm is expecting container handling at the Port to expand exponentially as from now onwards.
