The Cidade de Ilhabela is a floating, production, storage and off loading (FPSO) vessel for the north part of Sapinhoás oil field developing pre-salt discoveries in Brazil’s Santos basin.

The FPSO was purpose-built by Single Buoy Moorings (SBM) and the hydrocarbon gas dewpoint is achieved by two complete refrigeration packages supplied by RE.

The system operates at all load variations from 100% to 0% capacity, in a corrosive environment off the coast of Brazil. Acoustic SS316 cladding is included to reduce the sound pressure level to <85 dB(A). Special considerations were included to allow for ship movements and loads.

The compressor skid structures are isolated from any movement or stresses in the vessel by a three point mounting system. A third party verified RE’s design of the skid structures using finite element analysis. A Bently-Nevada machine monitoring system (MMS) is provided. The MMS outputs are incorporated into the redundant PLC system, with logic provided by RE, to monitor, control and protect the unit. The MMS and PLC control panel is located in the control room, whilst the package is located outdoors in a Zone 2 hazardous area.

The system is certified by American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
